Easy Boxing & Packing Tips

The better prepared you are, the faster this will go.
  • Get more boxes than you think you need, even for a short distance move.
  • The kitchen & garage almost always take the longest to box and pack.
  • Rule of thumb: If it fits in a box, box it. Keep (almost) all boxes closed topped.
  • Tape bottoms of all boxes, tape the tops if they’ll close.
  • Label on top of boxes which room they came from, what’s in them.
  • Try to keep all boxes less than 60 lbs
  • Use either newspaper or plain packing paper to wrap all breakables.

  • If leaving drawers full, leave only fabrics, clothes, linens, etc.
  • Remove all glass shelves from any tables, cabinets, book cases, etc.
  • Wind up & tape cords on all lamps, tv’s, stereo equipment, etc.
  • Use our wardrobe boxes for all hanging clothes, no charge.
  • If you’re going to take stuff in your car, start with: lamps, electronics, small pictures / plants, knick-knacks, anything sentimental.
  • Feel free to put linens, towels, sheets, blankets, etc. in big plastic trash bags.
  • Bundle up & tape together: rakes, shovels, hoes, etc.
  • Remember to put anything not meant for transport, in a separate area.
We’re not allowed to carry propane tanks, so please remove from BBQ. Do not water any plants for the week before your move.
